About Us & Our Idea
The Dog: Detective Pups
Huh? Oh, hi there! I was just napping in the sun you know, chasing some squirrels... Oh? What's that? Oh yeah. Sorry. Sometimes I get carried away on my naps. Let me try again.
Hi there! My internet name is Detective Pups (or just Pups for short). I'm a 50 pound Labrador mix. I love napping, you know, getting belly rubs, especially from Mommy, chasing SQUIRRELS and a new phenomenon I found out about: RAB-A-BITS! Oh, sorry, I meant rabits. I'm not very good at speling, so please excuse any errors. I call my Little Person Sis, or Sissy, or simply Her. OOOOOHHHH and I also like going on car rides and WALKS and traveling (except for the part where you have to sit hours and hours next to your little person, and it's hot and then when you finally get there, your mother won't let you chase the big birdies by the lake. What a waste. Anywho I-SQUIRRELLLLL SQUIRRRELLLLLL!!!!
The Owner: Me
Please excuse my dog. For internet confidentiality, I will simply be referred to as one of the above names (Sis, Sissy, Her, Little Person) and I will refer to myself as "Me". Most of the travel tips on this website will be by me, because, as you can see, my dog can get a LITTLE bit distracted by squirrels and rabbits and is better at telling people how she ferociously sat by the window all night watching them. How is that ferocious? I do not know.
The Idea
I made this website as a challenge to myself: to write a website for people to enjoy about traveling with a dog, with input from my dog's expressions because she, of course, cannot type (it would be nice if she could, but I guess her paws are a LITTLE BIT too big). We got her in November of 2011, and since then, have traveled with her over the West Coast of the United States by road travel. We've visited Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon, and even once went over the border of Nevada!
In the future we plan to travel more, but the first tip I'll give anyone? TRAIN YOUR DOG. If he isn't trained, he isn't going anywhere. It's that simple. I know, some people find it amazing that you have to TRAIN a dog, but if your dog damages a hotel or rented place, they have your information, they will MAKE YOU PAY FOR DAMAGE. Unless they are amazingly nice, or they're your close friends.
