Copper's Dream Animal Rescue
Copper's Dream Animal Rescue was founded by sisters Samantha and Jennifer Wang after they had to put down their first dog, Copper. They realized that no animal should have to die early because it does not have food, water, shelter, or a purpose to live. Together, they founded Copper's Dream. To date, they have saved more than 1,000 dogs through their rescue.
Where Is Copper's Dream Located?
Copper's Dream is a California state-wide rescue program, but they import dogs in need from all over the world: from the island of St. Croix to the bustling cities of Taiwan! In fact, around eight of the dogs they rescued in 2012 came from countries OTHER than the United States. But don't worry if you don't live in California! You can still help them out by donating. Or, see How Can I Help below.
How Can I Help?
Copper's Dream relies on a network of fosters and volunteers to get their dogs from the shelter to loving homes. They are always looking for volunteers during events, and for transporting animals from the shelter to their rescue. Their adoption fee covers veterinary care and other services, but sometimes, the dogs they rescue unfortunately get sick. The emergency vet costs a lot of money, and you can help by just donating, right from your couch. If you like a certain dog, but just can't adopt or foster it, you can sponsor it!
How Does Copper's Dream's Adoption Process Work?
If you are interested in a certain dog, you can set up a meeting with him or her by e-mailing Jill Leiva. Or, meet them at an adoption event. If the dog isn't being fostered, you can foster-to-adopt, which means you can keep the dog for three days and then return him or her to Copper's Dream if it's just not working out.
I Want To Foster, What Should I Do? What If I Have a Dog?
A foster is a person who takes care of a dog while it's in rescue until it finds a permanent, loving home. If you are interested in fostering, you can just fill out a foster application. And if you have a dog, you can set up an appointment with the dog you're interested in fostering, and bring your dog with you! Just e-mail Jill Leiva.
